PHILMONT CREW JANUARY OUTING, 20-MILE HIKE, SATURDAY, JANUARY 14, 8AM

We will meet at the Church at 8AM on Saturday, January 14, for a 20-mile hike.  Please bring a small backpack with the following:  water bottle, personal first aid kit, rain coat and small lunch.  Plan on returning to the Church by 8PM.

 TROOP JANUARY CAMPOUT-SPELUNKING, SATURDAY-SUNDAY, JANUARY 28-29.

Parents have already received detailed information, including the two Parent release forms for this trip, from our trip leader Mr. Jacobs either by e-mail or at the Troop Committee Meeting on January 9.  We will meet at the Church on Saturday, January 28 at 7:30AM for an 8:00AM departure.

TROOP FEBRUARY OUTING, SKI TRIP, FRIDAY-MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17-20.

We discussed this outing at the Troop Committee Meeting on January 9.  More detailed information will be forthcoming in several weeks.  The leader is Mr. Turmail.  In the past we have had individual automobiles traveling between the ski site and the Church throughout the weekend, so we will need to have extensive coordination among Scouts and Parents so that the maximum number of Scouts and Family Members can participate.

PLANNING FOR SUMMER CAMP AT RODNEY

As we discussed at our Troop Committee Meeting on January 9, it is time for us to start planning for Summer Camp.  Please send an e-mail to Committee Chair Mr. Mailley letting him know if your Scout plans to attend Summer Camp with the Troop.  If so, for each Scout please take a $50 check with you to the next Troop Committee Meeting on Monday, February 6.  Please make out checks to BSA Troop 666 and give them to Mr. Ashe (our new Treasurer), Mr. Mailley or Mr. Tilley.

We have scheduled a meeting of Adult Leaders attending summer camp for Saturday, April 22.  Please be aware that sign-ups for merit badges at summer camp begin early in the morning on Saturday, April 29.  We need a volunteer to be point person for the sign-ups.  Many merit badge classes fill up quickly so it is imperative that we be ready to convey the necessary information for our Scouts early on April 29.

DATES FOR IMPEESA (JUNIOR LEADER TRAINING) HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED, PLEASE WRITE THEM ONTO YOUR CALENDARS

If your Scout will be age 14 by June 1, 2017 and you expect he will have attained First Class rank by that date, please consider having him attend IMPEESA this coming summer.  The dates are Sunday-Friday, June 25-30 and Monday-Saturday, July 31 – August 5.  Details as to training location and course content will be announced later.  Over the years many Scouts from Troop 666 have taken IMPEESA training, including several of our current senior TLC Members in the Troop.  The primary emphasis is to teach Scouts the principles of leadership as developed by Lord Baden Powell, Scouting’s founder.
